FREE Women's Self Defence Workshop Series
Gain the confidence to walk in peace, defend yourself and fight back if needed with FREE self defence workshops for women and girls in West London.
The Gauntlet Fight Academy and Total Krav Maga have teamed up with West London's Ealing based MET Police in a community project backed by Ealing Council, to run a series of FREE weekend self defence classes for all women and girls, and particularly those who may have been victims of violence, and domestic abuse.
Our FREE Self defence classes will be running twice a month for the remainder of 2022. You can join us for 1 session, or come every month, depending on your schedule. We aim to give our students the confidence to defend themselves and fight back, as well as develop awareness to be able to de-escalate and avoid confrontational behaviour.
Instructors Nick Maison is an expert grade in Krav Maga, and founder of Total Krav Maga, and Professor Neto Nunes is a third degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and founder of The Gauntlet Fight Academy. They are two of the most recognised martial arts coaches in their disciplines in the UK.
Coaches Nick and Neto will be fusing techniques from both Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to delivery a comprehensive, easy to learn, and enjoyable course over the period of 7 months.
Women and girls of all backgrounds are welcome to participate. We accept teenagers from 13 and up.
About The Gauntlet Fight Academy:
The Gauntlet Fight Academy sits in the heart of Ealing Broadway. We are easily accessible by tube and train to Ealing Broadway station, from which we are just a 2 minute walk across Haven Green. Ealing is also well served by bus routes across West London, and there is also a multistorey car park on spring bridge road, just 2 doors down from us, and it's £1 on weekends.
The Gauntlet is a family run Academy which is safe, clean and has a great atmosphere. We're run by a husband and wife team so being family friendly and inclusive has always been top of our agenda. We have 200sqm of mats and a ladies changing room with shower.

We accept girls from age 13 and up, ideally if training with a family member. Both The Gauntlet Fight Academy and Total Kava Maga offer martial arts classes for kids.
Is the course open for men?
At the moment we are offering courses for Women and girls only. We may extend include this to mixed sessions later in the year. We recognize that men and boys can also be victims of violence and abuse, so please do get in touch if you'd like to hear about when our mixed sessions open up, or to find out more about our other martial arts classes.
Do I need to be fit?
Of course being fit will always help you in a self defence situation, however this course is really for any body, regardless of size, shape or fitness level. There will be some fitness elements in the workshops but you can go at your own pace and within your own comfort levels.
What should I bring/ what clothing should I wear?
Normal gym or fitness wear such as leggings, jogging bottoms and a t-shirt will be perfect. If possible please ensure your clothing does not have external zips as this can scratch your partner and our mats. We recommend bringing along a pair of flipflops for walking around the Academy. The workshops are bearfoot as there are no shoes permitted on the mat.
If you would like to wear a headscarf during the class please ensure that you do not wear pins, and bring instead a sports hijab, for your own safety.
Please note all jewelry must be removed before participation. We do have a changing room but limited lockers so we recommend leaving valuables at home.
I feel nervous about attending, what should I do?
The Gauntlet Fight Academy is a family friendly gym with a great atmosphere. The classes will be fun and easy to understand. However, if you have any specific safeguarding concerns, or are worried about triggering traumatic memories, please get feel free to talk to our friendly and understanding coaches who can be on hand to support you and tailor the course content to ensure your comfort. If at any time you do not feel comfortable, you are free to leave.
Will there be photography?
